What types of containers do you sell?
We offer a comprehensive range of industrial containers including steel drums (5-85 gallon), plastic drums (5-55 gallon), fiber drums (5-55 gallon), IBC totes (275-330 gallon), pallets (wood, plastic, metal), gaylord boxes (various sizes), and bulk bags/FIBCs (500-4400 lb capacity). All products are available in new, reconditioned, and various used grades.
Do you sell new containers or only used?
We sell both new and used containers. New containers are ideal for applications requiring virgin materials, specific certifications (UN, FDA), or stringent cleanliness requirements. Used and reconditioned containers offer excellent value at 40-70% savings for applications where brand-new containers are not required.
What is the difference between closed-head and open-head drums?
Closed-head drums have a fixed top with bung openings (2" and 3/4" typical) for filling and dispensing liquids. Open-head drums have a removable lid secured by a ring clamp, allowing full access for filling powders, solids, or viscous materials. Your product type and filling method determine which style is appropriate.
What container grades do you offer?
We use a standardized grading system: Grade A (like new, minimal cosmetic wear), Grade B (good condition, visible wear but fully functional), Grade C (fair condition, more significant wear but structurally sound), and Reconditioned (professionally cleaned, repaired, and retested to meet original specifications). We also offer food-grade and UN-certified options.
How do I choose between steel, plastic, and fiber drums?
Steel drums offer durability, recyclability, and compatibility with solvents; best for chemicals, petroleum, and hazardous materials. Plastic drums resist corrosion and are lighter; ideal for acids, bases, and food products. Fiber drums are economical and sustainable; perfect for dry products, powders, and non-hazardous applications. Our team can recommend the best option based on your specific product and application.
What IBC tote options are available?
We offer composite IBCs (HDPE bottle in steel cage), all-plastic IBCs, stainless steel IBCs, and carbon steel IBCs. Composite IBCs are most common for general liquids. Ordering & Pricing
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimum orders vary by product type and typically start at 1 pallet quantity. For drums, this is usually 4-8 units depending on size. For IBCs, we can often accommodate single-unit orders. For pallets and gaylords, typical minimums are 25-50 units. Contact us for specific requirements - we work with customers of all sizes.
How is pricing determined?
Pricing depends on container type, size, grade/condition, quantity, and current market conditions. Larger quantities receive volume discounts. Reconditioned containers offer 40-60% savings versus new. We provide competitive quotes and can work within budget constraints. Request a quote for accurate pricing.
Do you offer volume discounts?
Yes, we offer tiered pricing with significant discounts for larger orders. Volume pricing is available for full truckload quantities (varies by product - approximately 180 drums, 50-80 IBCs, or 400+ pallets per load). Long-term contracts and regular customers also receive preferred pricing.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), company checks, wire transfers, and ACH payments. We also offer net-30 terms for qualified business accounts with approved credit. A credit application is required for open account terms.
Can I get a sample before ordering?
Yes, we can provide samples for evaluation, particularly for new customers or new products. Sample pricing may apply depending on the product. This helps ensure the container meets your specific requirements before committing to a larger order.
How long are quotes valid?
Standard quotes are valid for 7-14 days depending on market conditions. Container pricing can fluctuate with steel, plastic resin, and logistics costs. We recommend placing orders promptly to lock in quoted prices. Extended quote validity can be arranged for larger projects.
Do you offer container leasing or rental?
We primarily focus on sales rather than rentals, but we can arrange leasing programs for IBC totes and specialty containers through our partner network. Lease-to-own options are available for customers with recurring needs.
Can I set up a recurring order schedule?
Yes, we offer scheduled recurring orders for customers with predictable container needs. This ensures consistent supply, locks in pricing, and simplifies your procurement process. We can set up weekly, monthly, or custom delivery schedules.

Recycling Programs
Can you recycle containers with hazardous residue?
Yes, we are equipped to handle containers that previously held hazardous materials. We follow all EPA RCRA regulations and DOT transport requirements. Containers are processed at licensed facilities with proper triple-rinsing, treatment, or disposal of residues.
What documentation do you provide for recycling?
We provide comprehensive documentation including certificates of recycling, weight tickets, manifest copies, chain of custody documentation, and detailed processing reports. This supports your environmental reporting, sustainability metrics, and regulatory compliance needs.
How does container recycling help my sustainability goals?
Container recycling diverts waste from landfills, conserves raw materials, and reduces manufacturing energy consumption. Steel drums are 100% recyclable. Plastic is processed into new products. We can provide environmental impact reports showing your diversion rates and carbon footprint reduction.
What is the recycling process for steel drums?
Steel drums are inspected, residues are properly removed/disposed, drums are shredded or crushed, and steel is sent to mills for melting and remanufacturing. Steel can be recycled indefinitely without quality loss. One ton of recycled steel saves 2,500 lbs of iron ore and 1,400 lbs of coal.
What happens to recycled plastic drums?
Plastic drums are sorted by resin type (HDPE, PP, etc.), cleaned, shredded into flake, and either pelletized for manufacturing or used directly for products like plastic lumber, drainage pipe, and other industrial products. HDPE is highly recyclable.
Do you offer zero-waste programs?
Yes, we can help design zero-waste container programs where all containers are either reused, reconditioned, or recycled with documentation. This supports zero-waste-to-landfill certifications and corporate sustainability commitments.
What is the environmental impact of reconditioning vs. new?
Reconditioning uses approximately 85% less energy than manufacturing new containers. A reconditioned drum prevents 40+ lbs of steel from entering the waste stream. Over a drum life cycle of 5-7 reconditionings, the environmental savings are substantial.
Can you recycle IBCs?
Yes, IBC components are recycled separately - steel cages are recycled as scrap steel, plastic bottles are recycled as HDPE, pallets are reused or recycled. We also offer rebottling services where new bottles are installed in existing cages, extending cage life.
Reconditioning Services
What is container reconditioning?
Reconditioning is a professional process that restores used containers to like-new condition. It includes cleaning (caustic wash, steam, or solvent-based depending on previous contents), inspection, repair of any damage, leak testing, painting/coating if needed, and recertification to original specifications.
Can reconditioned containers be UN certified?
Yes, properly reconditioned containers can maintain or regain UN certification. Certified reconditioning facilities perform all required testing (drop, leak, hydrostatic) and apply new UN markings. Reconditioned UN containers are legally equivalent to new UN containers.
What types of containers can be reconditioned?
Steel drums, plastic drums, IBC totes, and some fiber drums can be reconditioned. Steel drums are most commonly reconditioned. IBC rebottling replaces the inner bottle while reusing the cage. Plastic drums can be cleaned and reused but typically not formally "reconditioned" to UN standards.
How many times can a drum be reconditioned?
Steel drums can typically be reconditioned 5-7 times depending on use conditions. Each reconditioning extends the container life cycle. Drums are retired when they can no longer pass testing requirements or when metal thickness falls below specifications.
What is the cost savings of reconditioned vs. new?
Reconditioned containers typically cost 40-60% less than new containers while offering equivalent functionality. For high-volume users, this represents significant annual savings without compromising quality or compliance.
Can you recondition my specific containers?
Yes, we offer toll reconditioning services where we process your containers and return them to you. This is ideal for closed-loop supply chains or customers with product-specific containers. Minimum quantities typically apply.
What quality standards do reconditioned containers meet?
Our reconditioning meets DOT 49 CFR requirements, UN performance standards where applicable, and our internal quality standards which often exceed regulatory minimums. All reconditioned containers undergo testing and inspection before release.
How long does reconditioning take?
Standard reconditioning turnaround is 2-3 weeks from receipt of containers. Rush processing is available for urgent needs. Toll reconditioning timelines depend on volume and are established in service agreements.
Certifications & Compliance
What is UN certification and when is it required?
UN (United Nations) certification indicates a container has passed performance tests for transporting dangerous goods. It is required for shipping any DOT-regulated hazardous materials. UN markings show packaging type, authorized packing group, and test certifications.
How do I read a UN marking?
UN markings follow the format: UN/Code/Grade/SG/Pressure/Year/Country/Manufacturer. Example: UN1A1/Y1.4/150/23/USA/ABC means UN certified, steel closed-head drum, suitable for PG II/III, tested to 1.4 specific gravity, 150 kPa pressure, made in 2023 in USA by manufacturer ABC.
What is the difference between Packing Groups I, II, and III?
Packing Groups indicate hazard level: PG I (highest danger - marked X), PG II (medium danger - marked Y), PG III (lowest danger - marked Z). A container marked Y can be used for PG II and PG III materials. A container marked X can be used for all three groups.
Do you provide certificates of compliance?
Yes, we provide appropriate documentation including UN test reports, FDA compliance letters, food-grade certifications, ISPM-15 certificates for pallets, and certificates of cleanliness for reconditioned containers. Documentation is available upon request with orders.
What is ISPM-15 certification for pallets?
ISPM-15 is an international phytosanitary standard requiring wood packaging materials to be heat-treated or fumigated to prevent pest spread. Required for international shipments. Treated pallets bear the IPPC stamp with treatment code (HT for heat treatment).
Are your plastic containers FDA approved for food contact?
We offer FDA-compliant food-grade plastic containers made from virgin HDPE per 21 CFR 177.1520. These are suitable for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic applications. Certificates of compliance are available.
What documentation should I keep for compliance?
Retain UN test reports, purchase records, inspection logs, and certificates of compliance for containers used with hazardous materials. Documentation should be kept for the container useful life plus 3 years. We can help you establish a documentation system.
Can you help with DOT compliance questions?
Yes, our team is knowledgeable about DOT 49 CFR requirements and can provide guidance on container selection, marking requirements, and documentation. For complex compliance questions, we can refer you to specialist consultants.
Technical Questions
What is the weight capacity of a standard 55-gallon drum?
Gross weight (contents plus drum) varies by drum type: steel drums typically handle 800-1000 lbs, plastic HDPE drums 400-450 lbs, fiber drums 400-500 lbs. Net capacity depends on product density. For liquids, 55 gallons at typical densities yields 400-500 lbs net.
How high can drums be stacked?
Stacking depends on drum type and contents: steel drums typically stack 3-4 high for storage, 2 high for shipping. Plastic drums usually limited to 2-3 high. Always check UN marking for stacking weight if applicable, and consider floor load limits. Use proper palletizing for multi-level storage.
What fittings and accessories are available for drums?
Common accessories include: bung plugs (poly, metal), drum pumps (hand, electric, air), faucets, drum heaters, funnel/screen assemblies, drum dollies, drum cradles, spill containment pallets, lever locks for open-head drums, and drum liners.
Can drums be heated?
Yes, drum heaters (band heaters, blanket heaters, insulated jackets) can warm contents for easier dispensing. Steel drums tolerate higher temperatures than plastic. Check material compatibility with your product at elevated temperatures. Some products require explosion-proof heating.
What liner options are available?
Drum liners include LDPE (general purpose), HDPE (chemical resistant), foil (moisture barrier), anti-static (combustible powders), and specialty liners for specific chemicals. Liners protect products from container contact, ease cleaning, and can enable container reuse.
What are the standard IBC valve types?
Common IBC valves: 2" butterfly valve (standard), 2" ball valve (higher flow), 2" camlock (quick connect), S56x4 threaded cap, and various adapters. Specialty valves available for specific applications. Valve material should be compatible with contents.
How do I prevent static discharge when filling drums?
Ground and bond all containers and equipment. Use conductive or anti-static containers for flammable liquids. Fill through a dip pipe (bottom filling) rather than splash filling. Keep fill rates below 1 meter/second for flammable liquids. Follow NFPA 77 guidelines.
What is the shelf life of plastic containers?
Plastic containers typically have 5-7 year shelf life from manufacture when properly stored (protected from UV, extreme temperatures). HDPE may become brittle with age. Always check for signs of degradation before using older containers, especially for hazardous contents.
What is the difference between tight-head and open-head IBCs?
Tight-head (closed) IBCs have fixed tops with fill/vent ports - ideal for liquids. Open-head IBCs have removable lids for full access - suited for viscous products, solids, or products requiring cleaning between uses. Most composite IBCs are tight-head style.
How do temperature extremes affect containers?
Steel drums handle -40°F to 400°F+. Plastic containers are limited to approximately -40°F to 140°F (HDPE) - high temps cause softening, low temps increase brittleness. Fiber drums are sensitive to moisture and extreme temps. Always verify material compatibility with your operating conditions.
